Sridhar Basavaraju - Emergency Medicine
Sridhar worked with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention researching the relationship between geohelminth and malaria co-infection in human hosts. He produced a review paper examining exisiting data on this topic. On graduating, Sridhar entered the CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service Fellowship in Atlanta.
Dinali Fernando - Emergency Medicine
Dinali worked with Healthstores in Kenya where she carried out a quality-of-care assessment of medical services offerred in their clinics. Dinali will continue to work with the organization and to mentor future residents to implement training and education initiatives for the clinic nurses and clients. Dinali is now an Emergency Medicine Attending at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, NY.
Jane Jue - Internal Medicine
Jane worked at Bangalore Baptist Hospital in south India. During her time there she established a database to study psychosocial characteristics of HIV/AIDS patients attending their outpatient clinics, and contributed to training of local faculty. Jane is now beginning an academic fellowship at Robert Wood Johnson in New Jersey.
David Kessler - Pediatrics
David worked at Jose Maria Cabral y Baez Hospital in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on trauma surveillance. Concentrating on road traffic injury, David carried out basic research into use of motorcycle helmets on city roads. He also designed and implemented an ER-based trauma case sheet as the first step in launching a RTA surveillance program. David will remain involved in this project, and is now beginning a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at NYU.
Ofelia Martinez - Med-Peds
Ofelia followed her interest in serving the East Harlem community by conducting a healthcare needs assessment for children living in transitional housing or shelters. She will continue to work on a program to bring health education and primary care into these shelters as she begin her new job as Pediatric Attending at North General Hospital.
